Useful Travel Tips
- Arrival – There is no airport on Koh Phangan. Most travelers arrive via Koh Samui (by flight + ferry) or Surat Thani (by bus/train + ferry). Ferries run regularly to Thong Sala Pier on Koh Phangan.
- Tip: Our resort is best reached from Koh Samui via the Big Buddha Pier (now Haadrin Pier).
- Currency: Thai Baht (THB) is required. ATMs are available everywhere, but cash can be limited at remote beaches – always carry some extra with you.
- SIM cards: At the pier or in 7-Eleven stores, you can buy AIS or TrueMove SIM cards with 4G/5G. Internet coverage is excellent on almost the entire island.
- Best travel time: December–April: Dry & sunny 🌞 May–October: Some rain, but quieter & cheaper 💧
- Motorbike rental: The best and most affordable option (approx. 150–300 THB/day).
- Tip: Always wear a helmet, take photos of the scooter (scratches!), and drive carefully, especially when it rains – some roads are steep.
- Taxis (Songthaew): Ideal for groups or short trips. Prices are negotiable but usually range from 100–300 THB per person.
- Car rental: Only worthwhile if you’re traveling with family or have a lot of luggage.
- Street food: A must-try! Classics include Pad Thai, Mango Sticky Rice, Massaman Curry, and Som Tam (papaya salad).
- Drinking water: Drink only bottled water – no tap water!
